Hawks win on Colby's late goal

Down 1-0 at half-time, Holley scored twice in the second half, including the game winner from Ashley Colby with three minutes remaining, to defeat Kendall 2-1 in the first round of the Kendall Sports Boosters Soccer Tournament.

The Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute when Jamie Donahue knocked in a rebound of Katie Fisk's shot, which had deflected off the goalkeeper. The Hawks rebounded with two scoring chances late in the first half with shots by Colby and Courtney Gaylord that were stopped by Kendall goalkeeper Amanda Nau.

After the Eagles' Jamie Ergott hit the crossbar in the 47th minute to open the second half, the Hawks tied the game in the 59th minute when Gaylord's corner kick found the inside of the net after clearing several defenders and the goalkeeper.

The Eagles came close again just minutes later when Katie Stiegler hit the post, but it was Holley who capitalized in the 77th minute of play when Megan Hendel fed Colby from midfield. She dodged around one defender and put the ball inside the near post for the game-winner improving the Hawks record to 6-1.

Holley's Amanda Nau made 9 saves in net while Kendall's Lindsay Gaesser and Jenie Cole stopped nine shots combined.
