Walk, Bike group sponsors poster contest

The Walk, Bike Brockport Action Group is celebrating the month of October as the month of "Walktoberfest." As a way of encouraging everyone to review the rules for pedestrian and bicycle safety, the group is sponsoring a poster contest for grades K-5. Posters, which depict a bicycle or pedestrian safety rule in action, will be judged, based on the effectiveness of the poster in portraying the safety rule. Judges will be Brockport's Mayor Josephine Matela, Chief of Police Dan Varrenti, and nationally recognized artist Helen Smagorinsky. Prizes will be awarded at each grade level, and winners will be announced on October 29. Winning entries will be displayed in the Brockport village offices and the Sweden Town Hall. The Walk, Bike Brockport Action Group encourages teachers, parents, and all community members to review bicycle and pedestrian safety rules often.
