Police warn of phone scam

Ogden Police received a report from a senior citizen regarding solicitation of funds in order to claim a large cash prize.

According to the police report, a male caller called a woman stating that she had won $200,000 and he wanted her to send money within 48 hours to claim the prize. The caller identified himself as a custom agent from Detroit, Michigan and the money was in checks made out from the Bell Beneficial Credit Bank of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The caller states that the prize was awarded through the Royal British Sweepstakes Award.
