Seymour Library’s Knitting Club
creates afghans for those in need

Seymour Library’s new Knitting Club is taking up the cause of Warm Up America! – a national effort based in Gastonia, North Carolina – by creating an afghan for a needy individual, and calling for area knitters to help by each knitting or crocheting one small rectangle. In all, 48 rectangles, measuring seven by nine inches, are needed to complete the afghan.

Membership in the club is not necessary to participate. Children and adults are encouraged to get involved. The rectangle can be made of any color. Typical Warm Up America! afghans resemble patchwork quilts of many textures and colors.

According to Knitting Club leader Barb Webb, the rectangles must be received at Seymour Library, 161 East Avenue, Brockport, before Friday, December 3, to be included in the group’s afghan.

The Seymour Library Knitting Club meets on the first Friday of each month, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the library’s Duryea Room, and is free and open to all area knitters. The next meeting is November 5.
