Brockport watercolor artist Dianne Hickerson has received the second place award for her painting "Yellow Roses" in the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society Fall Exhibition. The exhibition opened October 24 and runs through November 14 at the Kenan Arts Center, 433 Locust Street, Lockport.

The juried exhibition has 64 works representing artists in the northeast region of the country. Eight were chosen for awards.

Juror for the show was Judi Betts, who is considered to be a Master Watercolorist who resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She holds a bachelor of fine arts from Indiana University and a master's degree in education from Louisiana State University.

Hickerson also currently has a painting," Ode to Spring," in the North East Watercolor Society National Exhibition in Kent, Connecticut. The juried exhibition runs through November 7.

Andy Wegman has been appointed executive director for Hilton East Assisted Living Community. In this role, Wegman oversees daily operations of the 180 resident community in the village of Hilton. He is a member of the Greater Rochester Area Partnership for the Elderly (GRAPE), the New York State Association of Adult Homes and Assisted Living Facilities and the Hilton Chamber of Commerce.


Mallory Blackburn of Spencerport received a Founders Scholarship from Syracuse University.

The following area residents were named Chancellor's Scholars at Syracuse University: Alana Carr, Bianca D'Angelo and Devin Hogan all of Brockport; John Vinciquerra of Hilton; and Shannon Ealy of Spencerport.

The following area residents were named Dean's Scholars at Syracuse University: Meghan Rowcliffe of Churchville; Christopher Gillette of Hilton; Katharine Voorheis and Joseph Sirianni of Spencerport.
