Ogden farmer
Lloyd N. O'Brien

Long time Ogden farmer Lloyd N. O'Brien died August 15, 2004 at the age of 85. He and his family operated the family farm at the corner of Stony Point Road and Union Street for over 50 years. Part of the land is now the site of Grace Church of the Nazarene and the Crossroads Youth Center. Even after retirement, he and his wife, Dorothy, always had a front row spot to watch the tractor pulls at the Churchville Lions Country Fair. Lloyd owned a 1939 H Farmall ("Old Faithful") and a 1950 Oliver 77, the only new tractor he purchased. Being a great storyteller of tractor tales, his family thought it only fitting to have tractors present at O'Brien's Memorial Service, held August 19 at Grace Church of the Nazarene. Not only was there a floral tribute arranged in a child's riding tractor, but also three tractors were driven to the church and positioned on the lawn. After the service, some family members gathered for this photograph. Shown, front row, left to right, are son Karl, Carolyn (wife of Frank), Lloyd's wife Dorothy, son Frank, Jaimie (engaged to Geoffrey), grandsons Geoffrey and Craig, Burdette (Lloyd's brother) and his wife Helen, nephew Patric (Burdette's son). Back row, great grandson Brandon (on tractor seat) and great granddaughter Jessica (children of Craig). Not pictured: son Larry Wheeler and his family.
