Trespass can lead to unsafe hunting conditions, vandalism, theft and/or property damage during hunting season. By knowingly going onto someone else's land without consent, a person violates the law against trespassing and can put everyone at risk especially during the hunting season. more

At the annual conference of Lions in the nearby seven county area of New York state, Lion James Schiebel was presented an "International President's Certificate of Appreciation." International Director Gary Tschache from Bozeman, Montana made the presentation on behalf of Lions International President Clement Kusiak of Linthicum, Maryland while attending the weekend conference held at the Holiday Inn in Batavia. more

Holiday Gift Angel Program launched for 2004 season
The goal of a unique program at Lift Bridge Book Shop in Brockport is simple - to collect enough dollars to provide every needy child in the Brockport-Clarkson-Hamlin area with a book for the holidays. more

Local musicians scheduled to perform at Lakeside's gala dinner
The Amadeus Chorale of Greater Rochester and Hilltop Singers, the children's choir from the Brockport School District, will welcome General Tommy Franks when he arrives at Lakeside by singing the national anthem a capella. more

Spencerport improvement projects under additional review
Village of Spencerport officials gathered together with residents and taxpayers for a meeting on October 27 that lasted more than three hours to discuss some important and difficult decisions the village is facing. more

Spencerport Schools looks to create capital reserve fund
Voters in the Spencerport Central School District will go to the polls on Tuesday, December 7, to vote on the creation of a Capital Reserve Fund to be used to pay the local share of future facility construction and renovations. more

Summer experience includes American Idol try-out
Lara VerHulst, a Spencerport resident and a student at Nazareth Academy, will never forget the summer of 2004. Accompanied by her mom, Mary VerHulst, Lara spent most of this past summer traveling the United States auditioning for the popular TV series, American Idol (AI). more

Sweden appoints new town clerk
The newly elected receiver of taxes in the Town of Sweden was appointed to the position of town clerk by town officials at the November 9 meeting. more

Voters head to polls in Bergen to decide municipal buildings' fate
Where voters head to the polls in Bergen on November 16, they will be using paper ballots and a ballot box to make their selection for two referendums the town in putting forth. Because the voting machines used for the presidential election are sealed for one month, the village is using paper ballots. more

The Hamlin Fire Department accepted a "Safe Neighborhood Heroes Grant" for $1,000 from the Wal-Mart Corporation. Department members expect to replace their current Jaws-of-Life that was purchased 15 years ago. more

Being neighborly
Youth members of the Christ Community Church took part in an annual neighborhood raking event on Veteran's Day, November 11. Youth Pastor Jamey Hinman gathered the youth and began raking lawns as a way to say 'thank you' to the neighbors whose homes border the church on Coleman Creek Road in Brockport. more

B-B teacher is Region I Art Educator of the Year
Byron-Bergen Central School Art Teacher Cindy Crowley was selected by the New York State Art Teachers Association (NYSATA) to be the Region I Art Educator of the Year. According to Paulette Lowe, NYSATA's awards and honors chair, "Mrs. Crowley was chosen from a very distinguished field of nominees and is an exceptional art educator. more

These Kendall Junior High School students recently learned that Irish dance is more difficult than it looks ... and a lot of fun. They participated with Spencerport students in a Project ADEPT (A Diversified Enrichment Program for the Talented) through BOCES 2 at Drumcliffe School of Irish Dance in Rochester. more

Chili Senior Center supports Lakeside Health System
The Chili Senior Center's "Chain Gang" once again donated baskets of goodies for the new moms at Lakeside to help welcome their newborns and celebrate the happy occasion. Fifteen baskets were donated, each containing hand knitted and crocheted baby clothes made by the seniors, plus an array of toys and toiletries and baby supplies. more

Ogden Seniors plan day trip
The Ogden Senior Citizens group is planning a Thursday, December 2 trip by Coach USA Western New York to the Fort Erie Casino. Included in the outing are several holiday elements including a day at the Fort Erie slots, a turkey dinner at the Holiday Inn Restaurant in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada and a drive through the Christmas light displays along the Niagara Parkway. more

Hilton successfully defended their Section Five gymnastics title with a team record 139.325 points in the championships held at SUNY Brockport November 8. more

First prize winners
The Dynamic Silver Bullets Tiny All-Stars won first place in their very first competition at Darien Lake on September 26 in the Pee-Wee All Star Division. The Buffalo Jills put on the cheerleading/dance competition. more

Raiders on way to NAIA regionals
The #17 ranked men's soccer team needed some last second heroics from sophomore Keon David (Plymouth, Tobago) to send them to the NAIA Region IX Tournament. The Raiders defeated Walsh University 1-0 with 51 seconds remaining in the second overtime period. more

Rangers season ends on own goal, all-star teams announced
Just days after winning their first Section Five boy's soccer title since 1979 with a 4-3 win over Webster Thomas, Spencerport saw its season come to an end with a 1-0 loss to Penfield on an own goal just two minutes into the second half in the State qualifier. more
