Budget figures in the Town of Bergen increased 2.5 percent over 2004's figures. Town officials approved a budget with a total appropriation of $1,935,079 for 2005. The 2004 appropriations total was $1,887,594. more

Brockport police officers receive commendation
Brockport Police Officers Christopher Curley, Steve Mesiti and Ralph Gleason received Certificates of Appreciation at the 2004 Monroe County Traffic Safety Board/Monroe County STOP-DWI Program Eighth Annual Safety Awards Luncheon. Brockport Village Board discusses library budget
A three percent increase was requested by the Seymour Library for its operating budget and Village of Brockport officials approved the increase at the November 15 board meeting. more

Ellen Loughrin was appointed to the Spencerport United Methodist Church and began her ministry there on July 1. A 2004 graduate from Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School in Rochester, Loughrin's own path to the ministry and Spencerport was the result of a series of hard-work miracles, she said. more

Ogden Farmers' Library receives grant from Target Stores
The Ogden Farmers' Library is the recipient of a $1,000 grant from Target Stores in support of the "City Country: Know Your Neighbors" pen pal program. The program, a joint effort between the Ogden Library and the Lyell Branch of the Rochester Public Library, debuted in the summer of 2004. more

Pete's Tree Farm gets ready
for the holiday season

Peter Costanza started up Pete's Christmas Trees out of a barber shop on Genesee Street in Rochester in 1931. The business was moved to Paul Road in Chili in 1942 where trees were grown on site and sold there. more

Reilich says additional federal aid
available for storm damages

According to Assemblyman Bill Reilich (R,C,I-Greece), the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved New York state's appeal for homeowners, renters and small businesses in Monroe County to be made eligible for federal disaster assistance for damages and other losses caused by late summer storms. more

Request for more BPD officers vetoed again
In the midst of lack of part time officers, potential retirements and disability leaves by officers, the Brockport Police Department continues to face a shortage of manpower to cover its shifts. And because of that they may lose grant funding given to the department as part of the Stop DWI program. more

Nikos Gitsis, in his mid-30s, doesn't look like a co-owner of an airline, but he's been one for the past ten years. A former resident of Ogden, he grew up on the family farm on Whittier Road and graduated from Spencerport High School in 1986. more

Bees win state title
Second seeded Byron-Bergen defeated top seed Honeoye to win the Section Five Class CC title and went on to defeat Candor from Section IV to win their first girls' volleyball state title. more

Dewey turns in last lineup at C-C
Twenty years ago, in 1985, Mary Pat Dewey started coaching softball at Churchville-Chili High School. In 2004, after watching her team win their first Class AA Sectional Finals during her tenure in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs, she is retiring as a softball coach. more

Hilton High School Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony scheduled
