State University of New York at Fredonia junior Christina Dudek of Churchville appeared with the Hillman Opera Chorus in the presentation of Leonard Bernstein's "Candide." A vocal performance major, Dudek is a member of the Churchville-Chili High School Class of 2002 and the daughter of Matthew and Jeanne Dudek of Churchville.


Andrew Meyers, a Hope College senior from Churchville, is playing the title role of Candide in the musical "Candide," the second production of the 2004-05 Hope College Theatre season.

Meyers is the son of Gregg and Renee Meyers of Churchville. He is a 2001 graduate of Churchville-Chili Senior High School.


Three U Albany women's soccer players from Monroe County varsity letters for the Great Danes Senior midfielder Katie Johnson (Churchville-Chili) earned her fourth and final varsity letter, while junior forward Nicole Hercules (Rush-Henrietta) and freshman midfielder Jaclyn Schaaf (Fairport) received their first varsity letters.

Johnson started eight of 15 matches this season and 45 of 52 career contests. She had two goals for four points in her career.

The Great Danes finished 2-18 and 0-9 in the America East Conference in 2004.


Scott Panik, a physics teacher at Green Valley High School, Las Vegas, Nevada, has been selected as the 2005 Nevada Teacher of the Year.

He is a 1991 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School and is the son of Robert and Diane Panik of Churchville.


Meghan McNamara, a sophomore at Spencerport Central School, was selected to perform with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra at their Holiday Pops Concerts December 17, 18 and 19 at the Eastman Theatre. She is a member of the high school chorale.


Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class James Alan Kase, Jr. son of Joni D. and James Alan Kase of Hamlin, and his fellow shipmates recently returned to their homeport of San Diego after a deployment in support of the global war on terrorism, while serving aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Belleau Wood.

Kase is a 2000 graduate of Brockport High School.


First Lieutenant Nathan W. Thompson, son of Gary and Beverly Thompson of Parma and a 1998 graduate of Hilton Central School, was promoted to his current rank while stationed at Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas. He is a member of the 69th Infantry Army National Guard at Buffalo, and has been deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.


Air Force Airman Dawn M. Ostrye has graduated from basic military train-ing at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

She is the daughter of Kimberly Hall of North Chili and David Ostrye of Scottsville.

Ostrye is a 2002 gradu-ate of Wheatland-Chili High School.
