CC Intermediate School students accept reading challenge

Staff at Churchville-Chili Intermediate School painted a train engine and boxcars on the windows of the school's walkway to challenge their students to read more. The School Improvement Team, comprised of teachers, staff, and parents, creates a reading theme each month to encourage reading. This month's reading theme was based on the book The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. Fifth and sixth grade team are encouraged to read as many books as possible in one month. The number of books read by each team will be added to the center of their boxcar. The winning team will earn a field trip to see the movie "The Polar Express." Above, Intermediate school art teacher Gretchen Foehner puts the finishing touches on the engine portion of the painting. Teacher aides Charlene Dodgson and Margaret Drzewiecki (not pictured) painted the box cars.
