District budget advisory committee volunteers sought

Community members are invited to apply to join the Spencerport School District's Budget Advisory Committee. The committee, which is appointed by the school board, will help develop the district's 2005-06 school budget. The board and Superintendent of Schools Phillip W. Langton are looking for six district residents to serve as members at large.

The advisory committee consists of some 20-plus members representing the entire community: parents, teachers, school administrators, students and support staff plus the superintendent of schools, the assistant superintendents and board members. It reviews the budget developed by the administration and offers additions, deletions and modifications. As part of this task, they also examine district resource priorities. The board reviews these recommendations when they receive each budget section during the budget development process.

The Budget Advisory Committee will begin meeting in January and is expected to meet in the evening twice a month through March.

Those interested in serving on this committee can call Fred Seiler, assistant superintendent for business, at 349-5110 no later than Thursday, December 9. A copy of the 2005-2006 budget calendar is available at the Administration Building, 71 Lyell Avenue, Spencerport. Reading copies of the budget calendar are available in the Ogden and Gates Public Libraries.
