Brandon Arva of Spencerport, a student at Hartwick College, was the recipient of $1,000 based on a presentation of his proposal for senior project development. He was one of nine students who won prizes at the division level of the fall 2004 Freedman Prize competition.

Arva's proposal was "Arranging 401: Beethoven's Greatest Hits" (music).


Carolyn Vacanti, vice president of clinical operations and chief nursing officer at Lakeside Memorial Hospital in Brockport, was elected president of the Finger Lakes Organization of Nurse Executives (FLONE) for the term of October 2004 - October 2006.

At the annual meeting of the New York State Organization of Nurse Executives (NYONE) at West Point, Vacanti was presented with the NYONE Leadership award for the Finger Lakes Region in recognition of creative and contemporary leadership in nursing practice.


Terri A. Mason has graduated from the Army ROTC (Reserve Officers' Training Corps) Leader Development and Assessment Course, also known as "Operation Warrior Forge," at Fort Lewis, Tacoma, Washington.

She is the daughter of Dorothy L. and Victor L. Mason of Hilton.

Mason is a 2001 graduate of Hilton High School.
