Spencerport teams volunteer in projects

Spencerport Central Schools Department of Physical Education and Athletics is proud to announce that each of its athletic teams will be participating in a volunteer community service/charity projects through its Spencerport Student-Athletes Care Program during the school year.

This fall the Rangers varsity athletic teams have performed a variety of projects:

Boys soccer, assisted with inventory of textbooks/supplies for the high school; Girls soccer, donated and served a dinner at Ronald McDonald house; Girls swimming, participated in the Brockport Harvest Swim Relays Canned Food Drive; B/G cross country, assisted with Turkey Trot Run (one mile x-c course) for SCS Elementary Schools; Girls tennis , donated items to the Sojourner House and participated in the Alternatives for Battered Women Christmas project; Fall cheerleading, assisted with 10K run for Hospice; Football, gave a demonstrative clinic for the BOCES coaching class, provided lawn care services for community citizens who were ill and participated in a SSBC Fund Raising Activity; and Boys volleyball, participated in the Village of Spencerport "Make A Difference Day."

The winter and spring athletic teams will also be performing volunteer activities during their seasons. The Spencerport Student-Athletes Care program won the 1994 National Award of Excellence for Community Relations from Athletic Management Magazine.
