Life Solutions of Hamlin and Fire Department team up to help Santa deliver Christmas

Everyone involved agreed that a new tradition was born in Hamlin. The morning of Saturday, December 18, the Hamlin Fire Department provided several fire trucks and crews to help Santa deliver toys, holiday dinners and Christmas trees to some of the clients of Life Solutions of Hamlin.

Life Solutions of Hamlin, formerly known as the Hamlin Bread and Thread, had spent several months collecting food, gifts and Christmas trees for approximately 113 families. Santa rode the fire truck and delivered to over a dozen of these families.

It was difficult to determine who was more excited, the children or the firemen. "There just wasn't enough snow for me to bring my sled so I contacted the Hamlin Fire Department to help me out," Santa Claus was heard to say before he rushed back to the North Pole. Santa did say that he enjoyed working with Life Solutions and the fire department and would be back next year.

Hamlin Firefighter Tim O'Grady said, "The kids really enjoyed it and we had a great time. It is important to help families out this time of year."

"I'm very proud of the other members of the department who pulled together so quickly to join Life Solutions in their ongoing service to this community. We just finished a few hours ago and we already have several wonderful notes and cards from the children. I'd also like to thank Life Solutions of Hamlin for this opportunity," said John Deserto, Hamlin firefighter.

Life Solutions of Hamlin, formerly known as the Hamlin Bread and Thread, has been providing for the Hamlin area since 1982. This non-profit organization supports 35-37 families year round and over 100 families at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. In addition, they provide family and financial counseling.
