School superintendent search begins in January

The Spencerport Central School District Board of Education has selected Dr. Christopher Manaseri, new District Superintendent of Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES, to chair the selection committee for the new Spencerport superintendent. The current district leader, Phillip W. Langton, will retire in June.

The official public "announcement" of the vacancy and the posting of the position will be made in late January. During February, Dr. Manaseri and his staff will meet with representatives of various stakeholder groups across the district to develop a "profile" of the desired candidate. District officials anticipate that the deadline for applications will be approximately April 1. Screening of candidates will take place during April and interviews of semi-finalists is contemplated during early May. Members of the Board of Education expect to identify finalists by late May, and plan to make a final selection no later than June 1.

As part of the process, the board will be seeking volunteers to participate on committees which will provide input for the final selection process.

Langton joined the district in 2000. Key among his accomplishments was a $46 million capital improvement project and the creation of the district's Strategic Plan.
