Rangers fall to top-seeded Penfield

Number one ranked Penfield handed Spencerport their fourth loss of the season with a three-game 25-10, 25-15, 25-19 sweep over the Rangers in girl's volleyball. The Patriots never trailed at any point in the match.

Penfield led 10-3 in the first game before a Spencerport timeout led to a three-point spurt by the Rangers on two Patriot errors and a Kelly Schweikert ace to close to within four points. Penfield then rattled off ten straight points on their way to the win.

Schweikert was a force in the second game with five of her team high 8 kills and another ace. In game three, the Rangers fell behind 14-2 before finding the offensive rhythm with Val Snider and Libero contributing aces and kills from Becky Scroger and Sam Hawn. Another Schweikert kill pulled the Rangers to within three points at 21-18, but Penfield pulled together after a timeout to complete the sweep.

Schweikert had eight kills and three aces for Spencerport. Jess Roth handed out ten assists, Scroger had four kills and Hawn led with nine digs.
