NYS Archives awards Hilton district two grants

Assistant Superintendent for Business Steve Ayers has announced that the Hilton School District received two Local Government Records Management Improvement Fund Grants (LGRMIF) totaling $40,009 from the New York State Archives.

New York State Archives offers LGRMIF grants "to support, promote and recognize sound archival and records management practices, as well as to encourage creative and valuable uses of archival records." These grants will help the district "respond to the challenges of managing records and information in the twenty-first century," according to Patricia Unterborn, District Clerk, who wrote the grants.

The district received a grant in the amount of $26,992 in 2004 to preserve approximately 41 cubic feet of historic/permanent school district vital records by microfilming these documents and having CDs copied directly from the microfilm; purchase a shredder; and provide clerical support to purge obsolete and duplicate records, and prepare records for microfilming. The district received another grant in the amount of $13,017 in 2005 to index 6,000 pages of Board of Education minutes from 1984-2004; develop a policies and procedures manual; provide clerical support to index the Board of Education minutes; and purchase a lap top computer.
