VanAernum's four points paces Saints

Senior Jason VanAernum scored two goals and added two assists while goaltenders Danny Kuntz and Bryan Forbes shared a shutout as Churchville-Chili defeated Geneva-DeSales 8-0 at Scottsville Arena.

VanAernum started the scoring in the first period when he backhanded a rebound of Ben Rossignolo's point shot into the net. Four minutes later Chris Rossignolo converted a 2-on-1 with Mark Bertolani and, less than one minute later, Steve Conlon gave the Saints a 3-0 lead when he scored off a scramble in front of the Geneva net.

Defenseman Kyle Easton scored the only goal of the second period when he converted a perfect triangle pass played from Tim Barnard and VanAernum on the power play at 9:58.

VanAernum scored his second goal in the third period when he tipped in Phil Evans' point shot followed just seven seconds later by a rebound goal by Barnard. At the 8:20 mark of the final period, Chris Rossignolo banged home the rebound from Bertolani's shot and Andy Jones completed the scoring by converting a pass from Evans at the 12:42 mark when both teams were skating four a side.

The Saints outshot Geneva 41-15. Kuntz made 12 saves in net before giving way to Forbes for the final 8:20 of the game. Forbes made three saves to preserve C-C's fourth shutout of the season and improved the team's record to 8-3-1.
