Hilton students to participate in National Job Shadow Day

Hilton High School will kick off Job Shadowing 2005, a school to work initiative to promote career exploration for students in the workplace.

"Across the nation, job shadowing has created an effective way to motivate students by giving real-world examples of how their studies in the classroom can be applied to the workplace," Theresa Jasen, business teacher and School-to-Work Coordinator said. "It is also a great way for businesses to introduce students to their industry."

"Job Shadowing is one of four School to Work initiatives: co-op (for seniors), work experience for sophomores and juniors, internship for juniors and then job shadowing for anyone grades 9 through twelve, " Jasen said. Previous job shadowing experiences have included: architecture, accounting, medical examiner, law enforcement, forensics, criminal justice, child care, elementary and secondary education, the automotive industry, dentistry and computer networking.
