TIME Magazine Senior Editor
to speak to Honor Society inductees

It's been nearly 21 years since Christopher John Farley left behind his three-sport Brockport high school athletic career and activities such as the Latin Club, Model U.N., Radio Club and the Mathletes. Monday, January 24, he returns to speak to new members of another organization he has represented well, the Brockport chapter of the National Honor Society.

The inductees will learn about Farley's twelve year career as one of the select senior editors at TIME Magazine, where he is a senior writer covering arts and entertainment. He has interviewed stars such as Ricky Martin, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Neil Young, Chris Rock, Oprah Winfrey and Jodie Foster, to name a few. Farley is the TIME's chief music critic and covers national affairs.

According to his TIME bio, Farley is an author and a regular guest on network and cable news programs. He graduated with honors from Harvard University with a bachelor of arts in government. At Harvard, he was one of the editors at the Harvard Crimson and Harvard Lampoon, and contributed articles to the Boston Globe and Chicago Tribune. Farley also wrote for the Life section of USA Today, prior to joining the TIME staff. Mr. Farley has been honored many times for his journalistic achievements by the National Association of Black Journalists, was a finalist for the Livingston Award for exceptional journalists under 34, and was the recipient of the Minority Issues Award by the Deadline Club of New York for a 1998 investigative report "Dead Teen Walking."

The National Honor Society induction ceremony will be held January 24 at 7 p.m. in the Brockport High School auditorium. It is open to the public.
