IT Woman of the Year nominations sought

The Association for Women in Computing (AWC) is calling for nominations for the IT Woman of the Year Award. This award is designed to recognize, celebrate and make visible the achievements of women in the information technology (IT) field. Through this award, women in the IT field are encouraged to stay in the Greater Rochester area, mentor young women and contribute to the economic growth of the region.

Any woman who works with data, processes and implementation of information systems, including telephone systems, computer infrastructures, applications development, data integration, wireless or mobile applications and devices, e-business or e-commerce/m-commerce is eligible for this award. Women nominated for this award must work within the Greater Rochester metropolitan area including Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans and Wayne counties. Nominees may be from the corporate sector, vendors, not-for-profits or educational institutions. Previous recipients may not be nominated for this award. The recipient will be selected for her impact to the IT profession, as demonstrated by:

  • sustained contributions to the field;
  • contributions advancing the status, opportunities, and employment for women in the IT profession; and
  • community service

Nominations are due no later than noon on March 4. They can be mailed to ITWOY Nominations, AWC-UNY, P.O. Box 23041, Rochester, NY 14692. Submissions can also be made via email to ITWOY@awc-uny.org.
