Bright Raven Gymnasts
win in Erie

Bright Raven gymnasts competed in the 2005 Stars & Stripes Invitational held in Erie, Pennsylvania February 5 and 6.

Maura Wojak of Chili captured first place all around (34.30) in the Level 6 competition for gymnasts ages 14 and over. Wojak was also first on balance beam (9.00) and second on the uneven parallel bars (8.40) and second on floor exercise (8.60).

The Level 5 team earned the third place team award in a field of 23 teams. In the 11 year old competition, Kristina Nupp of Churchville won first place all around (36.45) and was also first on bars (9.475), beam (9.225), floor (9.20) and second on vault (8.55). Amber Harewood of Chili was first on vault (8.60) and second on bars (9.35), floor (9.15) and all around (35.70). Alyssa Morone of Chili placed third on vault (8.45). In the 12 year old division, Jamie Lee Gilbert of Chili took second all around (34.325) and was first on the balance beam (8.80). Thirteen year old Shannon Fitzgerald of Chili placed third on beam. In the 14 and over division, Amanda Goldfischer of Greece won first all round (33.25), first on floor (8.75) and first on beam (8.55). Nicole Bonferraro of Brockport earned second all around (32.625) placing first on bars (9.325), second on vault (8.00) and third on floor. Other Level 5 gymnasts contributing to the team effort included: Holly Garbacz and Megan Saraceni of Chili, Mary Wittman of Greece, Helen Zickl of Batavia and Rhiann Korth of Avon.

The Level 4 team earned the second place team award in a field of 15 teams. In the 12 and over age division, Melissa Rombola of Spencerport won first all around (36.30) and was also first on floor (9.05), third on beam (9.10) and third on vault (9.15). Leah Ferreri of Chili was third on bars (9.10). In the 11 year old competition, Haley Cunningham of LeRoy won first place in floor exercise (9.20) and second place all around (36.90). Hailey Clark of Henrietta was third all around (35.80) and third on bars (9.325). Amber Rice of Brockport placed third on vault (9.40). Lauren Ciranni of Gates was second on bars (9.375). In the 10 year old competition, Carly King of Churchville won first place in floor exercise (8.90) and was second on beam (8.90). In the eight year old competition, Audrey Clarke of Churchville took second place on vault (9.375) and third place on beam (8.65). Megan Stevens of Brockport competed in the seven year old division placing second on bars (9.25), second on beam (8.15) and third in vault (9.475) and all around (35.875). Other gymnasts contributing to the team's second place finish included: Nicole Bell of Gates, Danielle Adam and Kristina Schiffhauer of Greece, Jaclyn Bowser of Brockport, Rachel Davis of North Chili, Carly Kreitzberg of Irondequoit, Laura Manciocchi and Rachel Shire of Chili.

In the Level 7 competition, Bright Raven Gymnasts earned three all around trophies in different age divisions. In the 13 year old division, Alyssa Kober of Ogden placed third all around (34.575), second on bars (8.55), third on beam (8.95) and third on floor (8.825). In the 12 year old division, Rachel Eckert of Irondequoit took third all around (35.25) and placed second on beam (9.30). In the eight and nine year old division, Emily Thomas of North Chili also took third all around (34.25) and second place on beam (8.95).

Fifteen year old Julie Mingoea of Spencerport competed in the Level 8 competition placing second on beam (8.65), and third on vault (8.80), floor exercise (8.95) and all around (33.90). Sixteen year old Kerry Apeland of Chili competed in the Level 9 competition placing second on beam (9.05).
