Six area players named to hockey All-Star team

Churchville-Chili's Brad Gurbacki and Spencerport's Chris Farnsworth were named First-Team All-Stars in the White Division and four other area players were Second-Team selections in the Monroe County High School Hockey League.

Gurbacki helped lead the Saints to a sixth-place finish in the White Division while Farnsworth and the Rangers were also recognized as one of the three teams presented with the Fraser MacKensie Sportsmanship Award in the division.

Hilton forward Joe Christiano and Churchville-Chili forward Tim Barnard were named to the Second-Team squad in the White Division. Hilton finished the regular season in third place with a 6-6-2 division record, 10-7-3 overall and ranked 22nd in New York state. The Cadets advanced to the Class A semi-finals after beating Webster-Thomas in the quarterfinals on Corey Blackburn's third period goal. The Saints finished the regular season 11-8-1 overall and ranked 25th in the state before losing to Gates-Chili in the playoffs.

In the Red Division, Brockport goaltender Dan Cavanaugh and forward Ryan Filipowicz were both named to the Second-Team and the Blue Devils won the Sportsmanship Award. Brockport used a strong finish to take third in the division with a 7-6-1 record, 9-9-1 overall. The Blue Devils season ended with a loss to McQuaid in the quarterfinals.
