Hamlin Tops gas station proposal passes

Tops received unanimous approval from the Hamlin Planning Board on February 7 to move forward with the construction of a gas station at its grocery store site on Lake Road.

Officials from Tops indicate they will begin construction in the spring to install six gas pumps and a structure to collect money.

Residents questioned the need for another gas station in the community, but over objections, the project was approved. During the approval process, concerns were raised over lighting and garbage pick up. Those issues were addressed to the satisfaction of the planning board, according to officials.

Stefanie Zakowicz, public relations spokesperson for Tops, said the fueling station would likely open in the fall.
