Enhanced STAR Program deadline March 1

Seniors are reminded that the Enhanced STAR (School Tax Relief) program application deadline for most municipalities in New York state is March 1.

The Enhanced STAR program increases the Basic STAR program savings for seniors who own their own home, turn at least 65 years old any time this year, and have an adjusted gross income of $64,650 or less.

The Enhanced STAR program automatically adjusts income eligibility levels based upon annual cost-of-living (COLA) increases to Social Security income. The new income eligibility level for Enhanced STAR has been increased to $64,650.

Seniors eligible for the Enhanced STAR program are encouraged to join the automatic income verification program that eliminates the need to reapply each year.

Applications for the Enhanced STAR program may be obtained from assessor's offices.
