Web page subscribe feature
enhances communication, district says

Byron-Bergen Central School district web page has been a vehicle for communication between home, community and school for several years now. Over the last year, the site has been enhanced by utilizing web tools through a provider called SchoolCenter.com. One of these web tools is a feature called, "Subscribe to this page." On various web pages contained throughout the district site, anyone accessing the page can scroll to the bottom of the page and click the words, "Subscribe to this page." A small widow opens up and allows the person to enter their email address. Their email address is added to a list for that particular page only. When the author of the page makes changes or additions to the page, the author can click on a button that says, "Notify subscribers." Everyone that has "subscribed" to that particular page will receive an email with a hyperlink to the page notifying them that new information has been added.

If parents only have students in the elementary school building, they can subscribe to the elementary home page and not have to sift through middle school and high school information. If parents have students involved in athletics, they can be notified of schedule changes. Superintendent Dr. Gregory Geer also utilizes the Subscribe Feature with his Superintendent's page. Students and parents can take advantage of homework assignments being posted. The district web site can be found at http://www.bbcs.k12.ny.us.
