Brockport Symphony Orchestra prepares spring concert

The Brockport Symphony Orchestra is preparing its spring concert under the direction of Johannes Muller-Stosch. The program includes Bartok, Rumanian Folk Dances, Mozart, Flute Concerto 2 in D major and Haydn, Symphony No. 103. This concert will be performed at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Brockport at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 16. General admission for the concert will be $5, $4 for students and seniors, children under 12 are free.

German-born conductor Johannes Muller-Stosch, is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the Eastman School of Music studying with Neil Varon. In 1997, after winning the coveted Strader Organ Competition in Cincinnati, Ohio, he received two Master of Music degrees in organ performance and orchestral conducting at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) on full-tuition scholarship. In 2001 he became the conducting assistant to Paavo Jarvi at the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and to James Conlon at the Cincinnati May Festival. In 2003, he achieved recognition as a finalist in the Besancon International Conducting Competition. He has been engaged with chamber music recordings and keeps an active performance schedule as pianist, organist and harpsichordist.
