Hamlin gearing up for Wheel Fest

Organizers are putting together plans for the eighth annual Hamlin Wheel Fest scheduled for Saturday, June 4.

The one day event features demonstrations on quilting and the Genesee Valley Handspinners Guild will be on hand spinning yarn. A silent auction, benefiting the Friends of the Hamlin Public Library, will run throughout the day.

Sponge Bob Square Pants and his friend Patrick Star will be wandering the grounds. Also for the children will be a Kid's Corner that will feature a petting zoo, Twinkles the Clown and many activities including face painting.

A Cruise-In runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and craft booths will line the midway. Food vendors, serving a wide array of taste tempting treats, will be on hand and will serve foods from breakfast until supper. Adult beverages are available in the beer garden.

Local entertainment features the Brockport School Band playing at 10 a.m. Jeannie's Dance Connection will take the stage at 1 p.m. and a Karate demonstration kicks off the afternoon. Radio controlled airplane demonstrations and games will round out the day.

A fireworks display at 10 p.m. will end the day.

The Wheel Fest runs from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. at the Hamlin Fireman's Field, Route 19 in Hamlin. There is free parking and free admission to the event.
