Churchville residents will have
broadband services over powerlines

New Visions PLC, LLC and the Village of Churchville have signed an agreement for New Visions to utilize the village's electric grid to offer affordable high-speed broadband services to Churchville residents and businesses. The agreement was approved unanimously at a recent village board meeting. The technology works by using the existing power lines to bring affordable broadband service into homes and businesses. Broadband over the powerlines is the next generation in high speed Internet access and can bring broadband to virtually any place that has electrical power.

For Internet and telephone users, New Visions service offers:

  • "Always on" affordable high-speed internet and telephone service;
  • No tying up your telephone line for Internet use;
  • Upload and download speeds at affordable prices;
  • Truly "plug and play" installation within minutes;
  • All with no need to add any in-home wiring.

"We look forward to having the opportunity to work with New Visions and providing our constituents with the newest generation of broadband services," said Nancy Steedman, trustee for the Village of Churchville. "This service is revolutionary as Churchville will be one of the first communities in New York state to utilize this advanced technology over our existing powerlines."

Donald R. Ehrmentraut, mayor of the Village of Churchville said, "On behalf of the Village of Churchville Board of Trustees, I would like to thank New Visions for bringing this new technology to our village. We feel this project is an important step in the improvement of the overall quality of life and economic development of the village.

New Visions will pay the village a percentage of the revenue. Along with Churchville's low electric rates, this new infrastructure will make the village an attractive place to live and do business.

Information about the new series and availability will be mailed to residents in their May utility bill. Installation is expected to begin this summer and customers will be able to utilize this new service shortly thereafter.
