Provisional DPW supervisor appointed

With the acceptance of the resignation of former Village of Brockport Department of Public Works Superintendent, village officials appointed Harry Donahue as provisional DPW supervisor at the April 4 meeting.

Donahue, who Mayor Josephine Matela said had taken the supervisor test, and passed it in the past, would be taking it again when it is offered in May.

Former Superintendent Brad Upson, who had been on administrative leave, tendered his resignation to the board. Village officials accepted the resignation at the April 4 board meeting. Matela declined to comment on the reasons for Upson's departure.

"It's prudent management to have a succession plan in place in the village departments," Matela said. "Harry was our choice to step into the position and keep the department running."

Matela said Donahue is well known and respected in the village and has knowledge of the operations of the public works department.
