Hilton students jump rope for American Heart Association.

Jumpers raise $8,291 for the American Heart Association

One hundred thirty Hilton students and their parents participated in the annual Jump Rope-A-Thon for Heart. A variety of aerobic activities were done by the students including rope jumping, "jake the snake,' pogo sticks, jumping with skip-its and hula hoops, and dancing to help fight heart disease and stroke.

Students from all three elementary schools raised $8,291 for the American Heart Association (AHA). Ramona Englebrecht, representative from the AHA, spoke at the event in praise of the students' and community's generous response to this fundraiser each year. She also awarded Northwood Physical Education Teacher and 21-year Jump-A-Thon coordinator Judy Roll with a plaque of appreciation and dedication from the American Heart Association.

High money earners were Nick Farese and Abigail VanVleck with $200. Every student earned a prize for their participation. Door prizes were compliments of Hilton teachers, Hilton McDonald's, Pettinari's, Leaning Tower, Home Video, Hilton-Parma Recreation, Big M, Pleasure Lanes, Ben Franklin, Quest PTSO, and Hamlin Sports. Coordinators Stacy Chiaramonte and Shannon Ingles thank the local businesses for their donations and parent volunteers and Hilton teachers Kelley O'Connell, Tim Jones, Amy Hargather, Sue Genthner, Mike Cocquyt, Scott Lutes and Judy Roll who helped make the event a success.
