Bright Raven gymnasts compete at State Championship

Bright Raven gymnast Alyssa Kober of Ogden earned a medal for her performance on the uneven parallel bars at the Level 7 State Championships held in Rochester. Kober's score of 9.60 was good for third place in a field of 75 competitors in the 13-14 age division. She totaled 36.40 all around. Teammates Emily Thomas of Chili and Rachel Eckert of Irondequoit also qualified to compete in the Level 7 State Championships earning all around scores of 36.925 and 36.60, respectively.

Bright Raven's compulsory teams traveled to Elmira the same weekend to compete in the Spring Spectacular Invitational and brought home two team banners. The Level 4 teams finished in first place with a total score of 183.905. In the Youth age division, eight-year-old Megan Stevens of Brockport won first all around (35.525). Stevens was also first on vault (9.35), first on balance beam (8.90), first in floor exercise (9.10) and second on bars (8.175). Audrey Clarke of Churchville finished third all around (33.375) and was second on vault (9.25) and third on bars (8.175). In the Intermediate division, Carly King of Churchville earned first place all around (35.90) and was also first on vault (9.45), second on floor (8.90), and third on beam (8.975). Danielle Adam of Greece was third on floor exercise (8.80) and Amanda Lee of Pittsford was third on bars (8.75). In the Junior division, Rachel Shire of Chili earned third place on vault (9.50). In the senior age division, 11-year-old Haley Cunningham of LeRoy earned first place on both balance beam (9.45) and floor exercise (9.45). In all around competition, Cunningham finished second (36.80). Teammate Hailey Clark of Henrietta was first all around (36.825) and placed second on vault (9.70), bars (9.25) and beam (9.275). Melissa Rombola of Spencerport took second place on floor (9.20) and third place on bars (9.85). Lauren Ciranni of Gates was third on both beam (9.10) and floor exercise (9.10). In vaulting competition, Nicole Bell of Gates won first place (9.75) and Jessica Tamol of Irondequoit was third (9.35). Other Level 4 gymnasts contributing to the team effort included Rachel Davis of North Chili, Amber Rice of Brockport, Larissa Filip of Chili, Kristina Schiffhauer of Greece and Carly Kreitzberg of Irondequoit.

Bright Raven's Level 5 team earned the third place team banner (169.40). In the senior division, Alyssa Morone of Chili took first place on vault (8.75). Rhiann Korth of Avon was second on vault (8.65). In the Intermediate age division, Emily Arnold of Gates placed third on floor exercise (8.80). Amanda Goldfischer and Mary Wittman of Greece also contributed to the team effort.
