Riga GOP selects candidates

The Riga Republican committee has endorsed its slate of candidates to run in November's election. Incumbents Tim Rowe, supervisor; Peter Brundage, councilman; Tom Klafehn, highway superintendent and Joe Steinwachs, town justice, all received the committee's endorsement.

Citing elimination of town debt, low taxes, improved parks and recreation facilities for town residents and efforts to maintain Riga's rural character as accomplishments, the candidates are anxious to continue working for the residents of Riga. Also receiving the committee's endorsement were Pete Neidrauer for councilman and Kim Pape for town clerk. Neidrauer served five years as Riga's highway superintendent until his retirement from full time service in 2003. Pape has served as deputy town clerk for five years. She would be replacing the current Town Clerk Jean Ott, who is planning on retiring after 24 years of service to the town.
