Genesee Community College to hold summer theatre camp

The Theatre Department at Genesee Community College will sponsor a theatre camp this summer for students between the ages of 13 and 17. The camp begins on July 11 and runs through August 12 and will feature various workshops and demonstrations, as well as provide an opportunity for hands-on experience.

Maryanne Arena, director of Fine and Performing Arts at Genesee, is coordinating the camp to introduce the fundamentals of theatre in an engaging way for young adults who are fascinated by the stage and live performance. The camp includes workshops in acting, voice, movement, dance, improvisation, audition techniques and acting for the camera. The four-week course will conclude with a production of Voices 2000 by Peter Dee, which offers a contemporary look at teenage life.

Cost of the camp is $300 and runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Light snacks will be offered daily but participants must provide their own lunches. The program is limited to 20 participants. For information, call Arena at 585-343-0055, extension 6439.
