Boys State representatives selected by Noone Post 954

Harvey C. Noone Post 954 continues its long standing of tradition of sending three Churchville Chili Central School juniors to the annual American Legion Boys State program to be held this June 26 through July 2 at SUNY Morrisville State College. The objectives of this program are to familiarize the representatives how government should function, Americanism, respect for others, compromise to attain goals, respect of the flag and intent of the Constitution. A cadre of Marines administer this annual program with strict discipline and finite detail to individual and collective responsibility.

Representative selection was extremely difficult this year, challenging the four Post 954 interviewers with a daunting task, according to Ed Moore. When all was said and done there will be four Churchville-Chili Central School youths attending the program. Noone Post and its Past Commanders Club will sponsor three youths and the fees for the fourth youth will be picked up by Post 1630. All expenses are paid by the sponsoring post.

This year's representatives are: Evan Williams, Robbin Crest; Bill Breon, Chili Riga Center Road; Derek Szczupakowski, Rex Lane; Kellen Mulhern, Hunt Hollow.

Post members say a special "Tip of the Noone Cap" goes out to Marjorie Boudens, guidance counselor and Vendla Clark, principal, for selecting candidates to be interviewed and arranging the time and place to do the job.
