Second senior housing complex opens in Brockport

Brockport Village officials cut the ribbon of Village Centre Apartments, affordable housing for senior citizens. U.S.D.A. State Director Patrick Brennan presented Mayor Josephine Matela with a ceremonial check in the amount of $367,352 and Judith Calogero, commissioner of NYS Division of Housing & Community Renewal added $1,389,530 in money from the state.

Located at 222 Main Street the building replaces a vacant pool hall.

Scott Winner, planning board chairman said, "this was an ideal reuse of the property. Besides removing a blighted structure, access to downtown is excellent, allowing the senior citizens to take advantage of all Brockport has to offer."

Owned and managed by Belmont Development Corporation of Buffalo, this is the second such development they built in the village. Individuals interested in rental information, call Bev Donavan at 585-637-6310.
