Holley High School opens community fitness center

Holley residents don't have far to go to find state-of-the-art fitness equipment. It's right in their own backyard at Holley High School with equipment purchased with a $392,000 Carol M. White Physical Education Program (PEP) Grant from the U.S. Department of Education that was awarded to Holley School District last year.

An open house was held at the Elementary School where students gave inline skating and teachers rock wall climbing demonstrations. In addition to equipment for two fitness rooms, inline skates and rock climbing walls, the district purchased snow shoes, cross country skis, mountain bikes, Polar heart rate watches and TriFit Assessment Systems.

The High School Fitness Center is open to the community Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. For information, call Lisa Campbell at 638-6391, ext. 2579.
