Sweden kicks off 'adopt-a-trail' program

The Adopt-A-Trail program for the Town of Sweden began its fifth season Saturday, May 7, with its start-of -the-season sweep. Volunteers met at Harvester Park with Bill Clifford, superintendent for the section of the canal from the Niagara River to Wayne County and Bill Andrews, Town of Sweden coordinator for the program. They began their task of litter removal and light maintenance of the towpath. Each group is asked by the Canal Corporation to conduct at least one inspection a month.

Groups are responsible for a section of the towpath. Town of Sweden groups are the Coffee Cup Campers, the Walk and Talks, the Brockport Garden Club, the Brockport History Club, the Brockport High School girls swim team, the First Presbyterian Church, the Middle School Retirees and the Brockport Federal Credit Union.
