Daniel P. Kuhn received the Paul B. Hanks, Sr. and Paul B. Hanks, Jr. Award. The award is in memory of Hanks, a prominent attorney from 1924 to 1982, who served as president and member of the SUNY College Council from 1952 to 1970. Kuhn graduates from SUNY Brockport this spring and plans to attend University of Buffalo Law School in the fall. He, his wife, Sara, and their son, Brennan, live in Brockport.


Bob and Stephanie Dacks of Inman, South Carolina, are pleased to announce the graduation of their daughter Laura from Florida State University Medical School on May 21. She will be starting a five year residency in general surgery, July 1, at East Tennesee State University.

Dacks is a 1991 graduate of Churchville-Chili High School, followed by four years of service in the United States Air Force.


Mallory Blackburn of Spencerport, a sophomore majoring in geology in the College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University, received the Chauncey D. Holmes Award from the Earth Science Department.


Matthew Montanaro, son of Romea and Nicola Montanaro of Rochester was recently named a 2004-2005 Outstanding Undergraduate Scholar at Rochester Institute of Technology. He graduated from Aquinas Institute and is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in physics with minors in American politics, astronomy and imaging science in RIT's College of Science. He is a member of the Golden Key International and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies and received the Hands of Christ Award and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Mathematics and Science Award.


Ryan S. Thomas, a 2005 graduate of Nazareth College, son of Sue and Dave Thomas of Buffalo Road, Churchville, was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society, in a ceremony held at Nazareth College in April. To be so honored, students had to have a GPA in the top 10 percent of their class.

Thomas also graduated cum laude from Nazareth College on May 6. He will be student teaching in the Bloomfield Central School District and the Monroe Middle School in the Rochester City School District in the fall of 2005.


Michael B. Burroughs of Hamlin was named to the dean's list for the fall 2004 semester at Binghamton University.
