About 70 people participated in the Victory in Europe Day ceremony held at the Brighton Reformed Church on April 11. The event was planned by ESL students from Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES Center under the direction of teacher Tatyana Shugol. The event included video, speeches, presentations of flowers to the veterans and music. Virginia Rizzo, coordinator of Special Programs for the Center for Workforce Development, said the event was a great learning tool for students and staff. Rizzo was there as a staff member and as the daughter and niece of two veterans who were honored. |
