Lakeside names employee of the year

Verna Keyes, LPN at Lakeside Health System, has been selected as the Robert W. Harris 2005 Employee of the Year. Keyes has been a nurse in the Emergency Department at Lakeside since August 1987. She resides in Hamlin.

"Verna shows nothing less than total commitment, flexibility and professionalism. She has been described as an amazing teacher full of knowledge. She shows a positive attitude 100 percent of the time and always makes sure her patients receive the best possible care," Amy Fletcher, RN, BSN, CEN, director of Nursing, Emergency and Critical Care Services said.

Candidates for Employee of the Year are those employees selected as Employee of the Month for the previous 12 months. Those candidates were: Chris Nichols, physical therapy; Erin Brunea, business office; John Brugger, physical plant services; Wanda Donald, Lakeside Beikirch Care Center; Joy Cliff, Lakeside Child Care; Mary Frances Kalinowski, Lakeside Memorial Hospital; Bill Swanger, dietary services; Charles McGaffick, Lakeside Beikirch Care Center; Lori Thomson, RN, obstetrics department; Sharon Newbould, central registration; and Michelle Kingdollar, financial services.

Keyes was presented with the Employee of the Year parking space, a check for $500, three days of paid time off, a certificate for a portrait by Helen Simpson photographic artist to be displayed next to the Employee of the Year plaque and a gift certificate from the Lakeside Family Wellness Center.

The Employee of the Year award was named after former CEO, Robert W. Harris.
