Father John Glogowski


St. Leo Church pastor to retire

Father John Glogowski, pastor of St. Leo Church, Hilton, will retire on June 28 after serving St. Leo Parish for 12 years. He plans to spend the first year of his retirement reading and traveling.

Glogowski was born in Rochester and spent his boyhood years in Gates. He attended St. Andrew's and St. Bernard's Seminaries, and was ordained a priest on June 1, 1962, by Bishop James E. Kearney. Following his ordination, he served parishes in Rochester, Auburn, Ithaca and Corning.

During his career as a priest he has served as spiritual advisor/chaplain to Beginning Experience of Rochester, a program for widowed, divorced and separated persons. He's also served as a fire and police-department chaplain and has served as an acting chaplain for the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.

His successor will be Father Joseph Catanise, who is currently affiliated with St. Rita Parish in Webster.
