Spencerport's long-time clerk resigns, new clerk appointed

Following more than 16 years of service, in various capacities, to the Village of Spencerport, Pam Gilbert is leaving her position. Gilbert has been the village's clerk since June 2000.

"I really loved the challenge of this position but I am leaving to spend more time with my family," she said.

Gilbert's family consists of her husband, Jim Gilbert, her stepdaughter Jamie Gilbert and her two sons, Brandon and Corey Cunningham. In addition to being home with her family, Gilbert said she will likely do some substitute teaching in the Brockport Central School District.

Her last day on the job was June 30. Prior to her leaving, she spent some time showing her replacement the ropes.

Mayor Ted Walker said Gilbert had been a very dedicated employee. "Pam's been with us in a variety of roles for close to 17 years and has done an excellent job," he said. "We regret that she's decided to leave us."

Jacqueline Sullivan, a long time resident of Spencerport, was named village clerk. Her experience involves being an alternate for the village's planning board and being a member of the zoning board. "I was interested in making a change in my professional career," Sullivan said of her interest in the village clerk position.

Walker said that Sullivan was one of about 50 candidates who applied for the clerk's position. "We were excited about her credentials and Jackie has been involved in the village and has been a resident for a long time," he said. "She'll be a great asset to the village office."

Prior to coming on board as the clerk, Sullivan worked in a fundraising capacity with the Boy Scouts for close to eight years. She lives with her husband, Joe Laucht.

"I'm really looking forward to the challenges of the position," she said. "I'm anxious to become more acquainted with the community and with the staff."

Gilbert said she will miss the familiar faces she has dealt with during her career at the village hall. "I've built some great relationships with the residents and I am going to miss the people I've seen for so many years."
