SUNY College at Brockport Theatre goes to New York City

The Department of Theatre at SUNY Brockport sent two productions to the Samuel French Short Play Festival in New York City: a play by faculty member Richard St. George, who is a Brockport resident, and another by Jay Hanagan, a Geneva resident. The plays competed with other short plays that have been accepted into the festival. Samuel French Publishing is the premier publisher of play scripts in the United States, and the winner of the competition was to receive a contract from the publishing house.

St. George's play, "Last Period," explores school shootings from the points of view of the participants and victims, and was produced at SUNY Brockport two years ago as part of the Department of Theatre's mainstage season. The other play, "Ships," by Hanagan, looks at a fortuitous encounter between a man and a woman, each waiting for their respective spouses, at a restaurant.
