Area projects approved by COMIDA

The County of Monroe Industrial Development (COMIDA) has approved incentives for seven local economic development projects.

According to a press release from Monroe County, the following local projects were approved by COMIDA:

Redman Construction Company (EquiPlus), 6565 Redman Road, Brockport. Redman Construction Company is a commercial site developer. The company is applying for a sales tax exemption on a new dump truck. The company currently employs 11 within Monroe County and will be creating one new full-time job. The company has been approved for a GreatRate on the equipment purchases through MCIDC.

Spencerport Professional LLC - Schultz Associates, (Sale/leaseback with JobsPlus), 129 South Union Street, Spencerport. Spencerport Professional LLC proposes to acquire and renovate a building in the Village of Spencerport to house its related entity, Schultz Associates, an engineering/surveying company. Schultz Associates is currently operating out of two locations in the Village of Spencerport. The $453,000 project will allow the company to renovate the building which housed the Ritchie Family Hardware business. Owner Chris Schultz said he hopes the work will uncover original marble in the structure which once served as a local bank. Schultz Associates, originally based in Hilton, has been in Spencerport for six years. Schultz Associates currently employs 18 and projects to add two new full-time jobs. The company seeks approval of the JobsPlus Tax Incentive based on the 100 percent local labor and supplier rule.

The EquiPlus program combines the investment incentives of the GreatRate and GreatRebate programs with the sales tax exemptions offered through COMIDA. Companies that receive GreatRate or GreatRebate benefits through MCIDC for the purchase of equipment can receive an additional sales tax exemption on the purchase of that equipment through COMIDA.

JobsPlus is a tax abatement program that, in addition to sales tax exemption and/or mortgage tax exemption, provides 90 percent abatement on increased assessment associated with the project in the first year, decreasing 10 percent per year for a ten-year period.

COMIDA is a not-for-profit, public benefit corporation and governmental agency. Its purpose is to encourage established businesses to expand locally and to attract new industries to the Monroe County area. COMIDA incentives apply toward the purchase of land and construction of new facilities, the expansion of existing buildings, the purchase of new machinery and equipment, as well as the renovation of existing facilities.
