Sign Law adopted by the Village of Spencerport

At the July 13, 2005 Board Meeting, the mayor and the trustees of the Village of Spencerport adopted law 2/2005 entitle "Sign Law."

The board's decision to adopt this law is to acknowledge that the Village of Spencerport was formed on the banks of the Erie Canal and its development was tied to early 19th century water borne transportation, to celebrate the best elements of that early time and to build on the architectural heritage and historic patterns of development. Ultimately creating a "canal town theme."

These regulations will establish standards permitting adequate identification of the use of property, reducing physical obstructions while enhancing the rich history of Spencerport.

All businesses, individuals and community organizations requesting temporary or permanent signage must submit a sign permit application. Sign requirements and applications will be provided by Building Inspector Jack Crooks, Town of Ogden, 269 Ogden Center Road, Spencerport, NY, 352-2145. Copies of the local law can be obtained from the Village Office, 27 West Avenue between the hours of 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday.
