Chili Indians capture
division title

The Chili Indians Babe Ruth baseball team, featuring five Spencerport players, won the Monroe County Babe Ruth Juniors Division (14/15) playoff championship in July at MCC. The team is comprised of 12 players from Chili, Churchville and Spencerport. The Indians won 13 games and lost five during the regular season.

The Indians started the double-elimination playoffs with a 9-4 win over the Hilton Cardinals. They then defeated the Henrietta A's 12-1 which put them into the semi-finals against the Penfield Braves. The Indians defeated the Braves 4-3 to advance to the championship game. Roger Strong was the winning pitcher against Penfield and Brad Potter earned the save. Strong and Potter each had key runs batted in producing hits during the game.

In the championship, the Indians jumped out to a 4-0 lead against the Brighton Brewers and won 10-2. Potter pitched six innings allowing only three hits to gain the win. Mike Brownyard had two long triples and four rbi's to lead the Indians. David Mazzullo, Potter, Chris Rossignolo and Matt Szczupakowski all had two hits while Strong added a triple that plated two runs.

The Indians won all four of the playoff games and finished 17-5.
