Emily Knight of Spencerport has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the publisher of Who's Who Among American High School Students-Sports. Knight will attend Bucknell University in Pennsylvania. She was selected for her academic achievements, participation in school and community activities and her essay.


This year, given their exemplary applications, two young women received the Shawn M. Bohrer Scholarship. Kaylee Bennett, a graduate of Odyssey High School in Greece and Kelly Warth a graduate of Hilton High School, were the recipients. The scholarship fund, named in memory of Shawn Bohrer, a flight instructor who died in a plane crash in 2003, was established at Trinity Episcopal Church by his family.


Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has announced the names of students who were awarded undergraduate degrees at its commencement, Saturday, May 21. From this area are: Matthew Siciliano of Hamlin; Lee McOmber of Hilton; Daniel Yanklowski and Chris Harisis, both of Rochester.


Alexandra Liccione has been awarded the inaugural Moran & Kufta Law Firm "Get Better" four year scholarship to St. John Fisher college. A 2005 graduate of Brockport High School, Liccione, will attend St. John Fisher College as a presidential and service scholar in the honors program as a science major. In high school she was a high honors student, a member of the National Honor Society, she was named to Who's Who Among American High School Students, a Monroe County Scholar Athlete Award winner, the New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer Triple "C" Award and a recipient of the Katie Sweeting Memorial Scholarship presented at the June 7 graduation ceremony. She is the daughter of Tony and Patty Liccione of Hamlin.


Justin Talbott has been named the Fred L. Emerson Endowed Scholarship scholar for the 2005-2006 academic year at Ithaca College and has also received a Presidential Scholarship. He is a senior at Ithaca College majoring in cinema and photography with minors in audio production and web programming. He is the son of Bill and Linda Talbott of Adams Basin.


Adam and Jennifer Staskiewicz announce the birth of their son, Logan Adam. He was born March 24 and weighed 7 lbs. 12.3 ounces, and was 20 1/4 inches long. He is the first grandchild to Rick and Kathy Hudack of Churchville and Stephen and Joanne Staskiewicz of Spencerport. Lisa Hudack and Justin Staskiewicz are his aunt and uncle.


Air Force Airman Michael J. Haight has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Gregory and Anne Haight of Spencerport. The airman is a 2003 graduate of Brockport High School.


Navy Seaman Kyle A. Weissenburger, son of Sharleen R. Weissenburger of Henrietta and Gary L. Weissenburger of Hilton, was promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois. Weissenburger received the early promotion for outstanding performance during all phases of the training cycle.

Weissenburger is a 2003 graduate of Rush-Henrietta High School of Henrietta.
