Saints begin again with victory

Two seasons removed from winning the New York State Championship and one year from losing in the Sectional semi-finals in game five, Churchville-Chili started their 2005 boy's volleyball campaign with a victory at Brockport.

Junior Steve Hughson registered three kills and one of his team-high six blocks in the first game to lead the Saints to a 25-15 victory. C-C was leading 9-3 before the Blue Devils rebounded following a timeout to go on an 8-2 run and close the deficit to 12-11. The Saints then got their offensive flow back in closing with a 13-4 flurry.

Brockport led the second game 10-3, but saw that led evaporate. The Saints' Scott Ozarski scored a pair of kills and a block on three consecutive points to tie the game 12-12 on their way to a 25-22 win.

The third game featured both teams emptying their benches and playing time for all as the Saints completed the sweep with a 25-17 win.

Mike Fink dished out a match-high 17 assists for Churchville-Chili, Ozarski had seven kills to go with five blocks and Hughson finished with four kills and six blocks. Brockport (1-1) was led by Ben Wolak with four kills, Bobby Frisch with five digs and Dan Maxim with two blocks.
