Republican voters choose November
representatives in primary Sept. 13

Registered Republican voters in the Town of Hamlin bypassed the endorsed candidate for supervisor and cast their votes for Retired Navy Captain Dennis Roach.

“I’m very humbled by the large turnout and definitely want to extend thanks and my sincere appreciation to all those who supported and promoted me during the campaign,” he said.

Roach garnered 454 votes while Republican Party endorsed candidate Patricia MacIntosh and present Town Board member Shirley Hollink received 267 and 117 respectively.

Roach and MacIntosh will square off in the November elections for the supervisor seat. MacIntosh is on the Conservative party line.

“I’m just starting to gear up for the November general election and am going to appeal to the Hamlin voters and garner their support,” Roach said. “I want to work with the residents to make Hamlin a great place to live and work.”

For Hamlin town board seats, newcomer Michael Marchetti and incumbent Paul Rath garnered the Republican nod. Marchetti received 515 votes, Rath, 600.

James Krempasky and Rath also won in the Conservative primary. Krempasky garnered 22 votes, Rath, 17. The three will be on the ballot along with Democratic candidates Richard Marsden and Tommy Jensen. There are two open seats on the Hamlin Town Board.

Also in Hamlin, Highway Superintendent Thomas Ingraham defeated challenger Scott Witte by a margin of almost two-to-one, receiving 531 votes to Witte’s 287. With the win, Ingraham will retain his position as highway superintendent for another four years.

• Incumbents in the Town of Clarkson won the primary. Allan Hoy received 285 votes, Duane Marshall, 250. John Lemke had 195. Hoy and Marshall will face Democrats Sheldon Meyers and Michelle Spagnola in the November elections. There are two open town board seats.

•Town of Sweden incumbents Robert Carges and Danielle Windus-Cook won the Republican primary with 312 and 300 votes, respectively. They both also won the Conservative Party primary and defeated political newcomer Tim Bates. The incumbents will vie for their seats against Democrat George Lloyd in November.
